What we play is life.

Sentient, ever-evolving, with an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and understanding. Our studio represents a way of life. We all hail from varied cultures, have individual experiences and bring a different set of eyes to each project and those differing perspectives are part of what brings a broader reach to our work. That’s only where we start. Our studio resonates more like an atelier than a traditional brand/marketing/design firm.

Our reference dates back to the late 17th century when the French word Atelier (atlˈyā) — literally meaning a splinter of wood — was used to define a decorative or fine art studio or workshop where a principal master and his assistants, students, and apprentices worked together to produce pieces released in the master's name.

From the beginning, Robert Louey and I encourage all our team members  — design as well as business analyst, office manager, writer, intern   — to develop an understanding of the sciences, and to develop a deeper sense of history and how that relates to aesthetics. It’s also important to kindle their curious nature and inquiring intellect.

Over time the acquired skill is empathy and the ability to anticipate reaction and response. This plays into both design and communication. So our entire office is engaged.

All these elements need to be employed in order to create solutions that will appeal, excite, and incite on many levels. It is one thing to create an object of beauty to be admired, another to also encourage someone into action.

Our discipline is comprehensive. We’re fully invested in the ideal that all aspects of the brand (from logo, image, collateral materials) must interrelate and convey the same authentic message, so we don’t compartmentalize design. All aspects of each assignment are worked on collaboratively. There is a rhythm and flow to every project.

The universal desire to consistently redefine brand, image, and design presses us to innovate. So we seek unusual materials and application. We forge. We research. We think. We talk. We critique.

Also imperative is an ability to render emotions. To project a feeling onto the page or wall or environment, or experience, requires both an introspective nature, an extrovert’s view of the world and a joie de vivre.

Finally, an understanding of, and an abiding respect for the cultures of those that share our studio, our extended family (clients, contributors, and vendor/partners), and the world at large is what influences the timor and ambience of our studio. We have an abiding affinity for all.

We’re dedicated to each designer’s complete involvement in every aspect and stage of discussion, idea, presentation, creation and production. In turn they are equally devoted to creating an ideal outcome for our clients.

This is our culture.
