XL Rolling Stone

My first glimpse of IMAGE: Global Vision was by way of the blog. Based on the weight of their projects and the significance of their clients, I imagined it was a large company with perhaps 40-50 designers. When I arrived to the studio, I saw a long hallway and imagined there were many, many rooms along the corridor, brimming with designers, pumping out designs. I briefly, but anxiously waited in the conference room. Just beyond the door, I could hear Regina Rubino breaking the “super sweet voice” stereotype — I became aware that this is a very strong, successful entrepreneur. This is a woman who knows how to move things forward. When Regina entered the room, I knew there was a lot happening in the studio, but she was focused and deliberate while reviewing my portfolio, asking about my interests and goals. I toured the studio which was surprisingly intimate and while busy, had an air of calm. Everybody was friendly and welcoming. With a lot to offer IMAGE: Global Vision, and much I could learn here, I accepted an internship.

My internship began in April — just a few months ago, and it was education by immersion.I began by translating communications — and learned how IMAGE: Global Vision works. IMAGE: Global Vision is more of a strategic consulting firm, not just design. It’s about strategy, not just a logo or a brochure or a website. In these dynamic weeks, I have translated contracts, performed market research, been involved at a project management level: working with designers to mesh intel with projects. This studio is more like an agency. IMAGE: Global Vision's clients are diverse as well as global, and part of what excites me most is the research. I’m learning about an array of industries then seeing how an integrated marketing and design strategy develops and takes form. I’ve seen the benefit of this more intimate team structure. Each client is like baby you can take care of.

This rolling stone has been fortunate to have gathered some lush and fertile moss. Truly, I couldn’t have seeded myself in more fertile ground and I think I might have found my home in the “szh” as in the middle of vision… IMAGE: Global Vision.
