When I conjure up an abstract representation of IMAGE: Global Vision’s studio, the image that comes to mind is an adhocracy of intricately connected silken threads, resting on given supports, each strand interdependent upon the others for consummate strength and structure. As wind direction (trends) change, the circumstances and filaments surrounding each project adjust accordingly. We are a strong but agile group, working for the common good.
While the configurations are inherently different… our processes and the way we work together remains consistent, and each one of us is imperative to the prodigal result.
The level of preparation here is much deeper and complete than anywhere I’ve ever been. In Regina Rubino’s studio, all of the team members ideas are given equal time and considered thought. The vision invisibly guides us all and the weight of each project’s influencing inspirations. We work together, incited by each others ideas as it builds to the crescendo that ultimately becomes the strategic presentation. Other companies want to work quickly and so skip that part.
In my experience, this is a radically different approach than how most design and marketing firms operate. The typical structure is linear rather than integrated. A project leader has their vision and it is each department/team member’s responsibility (within their specific capacity) to provide solutions conforming to that vision. Compartmentalized organizations are the norm and people have specific responsibilities, siloed. Team leaders are not always involved in the entire process, yet they are managing outcomes. While it’s expedient, manageable and practical, I feel like the results don’t really come off the page, or have the emotional impact that IGV’s presentations do.
